I’ve been twice, once as a 15 year old scout and then as the dad of a 15 year old scout. It was wonderful both times. I made it to the top of Baldy on both trips. Great view. On the second trip we slid part way down on some of the remaining snow, yes there was snow on the 5th of July.

Be prepared to have the time of your life. My son and I completed a trek in 2016 and I still remember it fondly. I went out and got myself a Nikon J5 for the trip and a handful of extra batteries. You’ll be surprised about cell service. Higher elevation will have at least a few bars. Especially on top of Baldy or the Tooth. Have a great time your about to make some some amazing memories…and photos!

Thanks! Wow, that’s a lot of wind! We summit Baldy on day 10 of our trek, and I know they are all looking forward to that. I’m going with 2 batteries and 2 SD cards, along with a battery bank to top off the camera batteries and iPhone. Hope it will get us through.

I went with my son and crew 10 years ago as I was one of our troops assistant Scout Masters. I did a lot of research on what small camera to take. I decided to take the Ricoh GRD digital camera. I bought 3 extra batteries and SD cards. We had one of the longer treks of close to 90 miles. Had 60 mile winds one night at the foot of Mt Baldy. The memories will be for a lifetime!
