LR 13.3 Catalog Upgrade to a new database structure seemed to have introduced core catalog problems. A lot of users complain about messed up cloud collections, missing preview files and overall unresponsiveness. Just search for 13.3 on Adobes own and the Light Room Queen Forums. While waiting for a hotfix one can go to Catalog Preferences > Metadata > Save Edits to XMP > Let LR export the edits > Close Lightroom and try alternative image management software, for instance the free Digikam or Photo Supreme which is very fast for culling. Right now with LR 13.4 my catalog is still unusable.
