I did that in the past and, because my iphone is used for any type of photo, including some parts in my job,… my lightroom catalog quickly became a mess with 5000 images.
Now i select which photos i want to sync in shared albums.
And, something i alreday asked tutos for, it is very difficult to clean mobile while keeping photos in lightroom classic catalog due to the synchronization.
I found a trick to stop sync, copy all images from sync folder to a new folder and delete the sync folder and then clean the iphone but tedious.
